Oh,I almost forgot, the Bible, in several references, refers to a habit taking about 40 days to develop or 40 days to diminish!!!!! With God all things are possible, DON'T GIVE UP :-)
Can't help but think of all the resolutions that will be made today and broken by January 4 :-) Don't put that pressure on yourself, I remember the year I promised to read through the Bible in a year, no comment. (took 2) I don't need to lose weight so I've never broken that resolution. Some of the best "promises"that you can make to yourself this year would be to start a good prayer life, try to memorize a verse each week, see if you can name the 66 books of The Bible, memorize The Beatitudes, memorize The 10 Commandments, be more of a witness, be more of a parent and less of a pal, if your're a grandparent you better be on your knees daily for each one of your grandkids, learn the color of your children's eyes, if you're married, be married, if you're single, give Christ the drivers seat not the trunk, if you're a believer, be the 13th disciple, if you're not a believer, it would be a great day to invite Christ into your heart!!!!! Instead of making a list of everything that you're going to quit or not do, which is fine, but that's the past, make a list of what you will do,that's the future!!!! I know what I'll be doing at midnight, I will be giving praise for the old year and bring in the new in prayer, quiet ,hugging my mantle in prayer. It's a great feeling to be having a conversation with God as a year ends and a new one begins. Happy New Year !!!

This past month it seems like I've been studying the faith of the people in the four Gospels. One that really comes to mind is the lady who had a blood disease for 12 years, she had spent everything she owned to physicians trying to help her. Then she heard that Jesus was coming to town and she said to herself, if I can just touch his clothes I know I can be healed. Couple things here that really come to mind, number one, she wasn't going to make a big deal about her faith she just wanted to touch his clothes. Number two, because of the faith she knew she had, she would be healed. Humble, willing, and enough faith to get the job done. I'm sorry but I don't see a whole lotta humble today in the light of the gospel, if you know what I mean. I will be the first to say that the light of the gospel does draw some pretty strange bugs!! The faith this lady had was phenomenal, just like the children God points out in His Son's life, how they believed "CHILD LIKE" So today I hope you've got enough faith that if you could just touch his clothes you can get your job done. I love it,Jesus knew his garment had been touched, and he wanted to know who it was because strong powers went out of him to heal this lady which required strong faith to draw that out of our savior. As we close out this year and bring in a new one, let's have enough faith just to touch his garment to help our lives. And when she finally came to Jesus she fell on her knees and her face thanking him!!! Once again, she took the time to say "thank you", He said to her," your faith has made you whole." As always here at tabletop TGIF-Thank God I'm forgiven!!! If you've had something bothering your life for the last 12 years, touch his garment today, the good news is he'll know who is tugging at it!!
Matthew, Mark, and Luke all tell the story about the man named Legion, he had about 2000 unclean spirits living in him!! 2000, no wonder no one wanted to let him live with them, and his parents named him Legion because from birth he was born with these unclean spirits. I'll tell you what I find amazing about this man, he had problems lots of them, about 2000 of them, but when he saw Jesus for the first time, he had never been introduced to him,or met him,but the Bible says that when he saw him a far-off he ran to him and said, what have I got to do to get rid of this. Jesus said because of your faith in me without even knowing me, I'll take the unclean spirits, the Devils, about 2000 of them that are in you and we'll put them in that heard of pigs over there and they can go do some cliff diving into the sea :-)
Demon possessed, 2000 times over, but he figured out who Christ was, no excuses folks, if Legion figured out who He was, we should be able to do it, and much easier. Hope you know Him!! Enjoy your Thursday!!! Matthew, Mark and Luke all record the meeting Jesus had with his disciples as far as their mission would now become!! He gave them powers, to heal, cast out demons, basically be his body, his hands and his feet. I love what he told them "you will take nothing, you will be provided for and taken care of, anyone who does not give you hospitality,I will deal with". "When you are rejected, You are to shake the dust off and keep going in my name". Sounds like a fun trip, you got some really cool special powers that He gave them for a short time, to use in his name, but you're not taking a dime or anything with you and yet you will be taken care of. What if you heard from Christ today, he told you to leave everything, take nothing, and get out there and be His witness. No cell phones, no cash, no vehicle, just start walking in Jesus name. Let's say what Christ has asked from you today is not that extreme, Let's start with just praying for our families, our friends, that your life as people see it lived out today would be your sermon,in His Name!!!! And during your witness of living for him today, you know you're going to run into a few people that reject your good news!!!! Shake the dust off and keep going!!! My savior could've called 10,000 angels that Good Friday, but he died for a wretch like me!!!! If you know him and have him in your heart today you should gladly want to be the 13th disciple. Enjoy your Wednesday This morning I was reading out of Mark, chapter 6, it's about when King Herod started to hear the news about Jesus and what he was doing with his mission!! Herod thought it was John the Baptist raised from the dead. His court told him no, it's not John the Baptist, it's Elias or some other prophet, but Herod once again reiterated to his staff, it is John the Baptist coming back to haunt me because I had him put to death for a filthy little dance on my birthday. As we approach 2017, do you have any hidden sins that come back to haunt you! This is exactly what was happening to Herod!! He had made a promise that he would give a young lady anything she wanted if she did this dance for him. You know the story, she danced and then her mother told her to ask for the head of John the Baptist on a platter, she wanted him dead because he pinpointed her adulterous life out to her with Herod, Knowing he couldn't go back on his word on his birthday in front of a group people, ordered the execution. Good day to get rid of these past sins that continue to haunt you and ask the Lord to help you leave 2016 unhaunted and enter 2017 with temptation behind you, where it belongs by the way, not in front of you or beside you but behind you, it worked for Jesus !! Oh by the way, I'm preaching to myself this morning, but you're more then welcome to take this advice as well :-)
"SATAN GET BEHIND ME" I bet you'll have a much better Tuesday if you try that !!!!!!! SELAH Hope you had a great Christmas! I spent most of the day just counting my blessings and couldn't even begin to touch a little bit of them, let alone all of them. So grateful! This morning I was reading out of John 10,that's the parable that Jesus spoke to his disciples about being the good shepherd. When you get to the end of the story it pretty much says that a good shepherd will give his life for his sheep. We're his sheep, he's our shepherd, brought into this world on Christmas Day, gave his life on Good Friday, then as promised, in all his glory, arose on Resurrection Sunday. The good shepherd came knowing what he was going to do, give his life for the forgiveness of our sins ,that's how much he loves his sheep!! Hope you're in the flock today,if you are ,live for him,if you're not, what a great day to invite Him in, he's waiting!!! Have a great Monday :-) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him, shall not parrish but have everlasting life! Merry Christmas!!!! You won't find a gift under the tree anywhere near as good, or as promising,as that verse!!' Enjoy This Lords' Day Christmas God sent heaven down, had to break HIS heart, and named Him " Jesus"
MERRY CHRISTMAS Being in the snow removal business, you have to depend on good trucks, good plows, and probably the next most important item besides the trucks and plows running goodare the lights. Kinda hard to plow a midnight run without them :-) I must admit the plows they make today light the way pretty good, but we have big back up lights which are just as important as the forward lights, we've got to see what we're backing up to. In John 1,seven through nine, he talks about the true light, the light of the world coming down on Christmas Day. We all know about the star the God hung over that manger some 2000 years ago, it was BRIGHT!!! The Bible says that it out shown any star in the sky by quite a bit. So here's the light of the world laying in a manger with the star of the world announcing his birth. I hope you have the light in your life today so that when you need to go forward and you can see!!!!! He came to this world of darkness to be the light unto our feet. If that's not a Merry Christmas gift I don't know what is. Two days till Christmas, hope your light shines for Him today and as always here at tabletop on Friday, TGIF!!! Thank God I'm Firgiven !!!!
In John chapter 1 verse 14, he pretty much wraps up Christmas, why we are here, and what God did for us through his son,Jesus Christ. Yesterday, in my studies, I read an article that my good friend Julie, who is in heaven, wrote about the Christmas story. As I read it I could picture her sitting at a coffee break ,we worked together, saying those words. The story has not changed, it's the same as when she told it years and years ago. It's the same as when God himself, sent his son down from the throne to be here, to live a perfect life, then to give it for yours and my sins. The story has not and will not ever change. The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us. Anyone that tries to add to that or take away from it is messing with scripture. It's an event that took place, savior of the world came and walked this earth, it's got nothing to do with a "happy holiday", The Son of Man was placed in a cradle, to be nailed to a cross, so we could be forgiven of our sins. You find a better gift than that let me know, oh and by the way, you won't, it's free, but you have to ask "Him In"to receive it !!!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS in 4 days!!!!! |
